Bronwyn Royce
Bronwyn Royce is a South African watercolour artist now living in the UK. She had always loved art but, born with only 10% vision in her left eye, doubted she was capable of creating anything worthwhile. In 1999, a friend invited her to attend a watercolour art class and she was instantly hooked.
When she emigrated to the UK in 2007, she took on full-time employment and her paints and brushes lay dormant in a bottom drawer. The combination of a massive life-changing curveball thrown at her family in 2012, together with unexpectedly being made redundant in 2016, meant that Bronwyn was forced to take time out to decide what truly is important, and where her focus should lie.
In March 2018, finally that bottom drawer was gently and gingerly eased open and the paints and brushes were removed and dusted off. In the same way the tools were being revived, so was the artist; it was like reuniting old friends. In May 2018 Bronwyn joined Instagram as @pigmentsart and ventured into the fascinating world of miniature painting.
Over the last few years, fueled by enthusiasm, and the hope that it would inspire at least one person, Bronwyn put pen to paper and shared the tragic details of how life can be changed in an instant. Her book 'One Step in a Poppy Field' was released in November 2023 with a foreword written by HRH Princess Anne.
